NUDE: a beauty studio website rebuilt around its treatments

NUDE offers hair removal, facials and massages in Gravesend. The studio already had a website; what it did not have was one that explained the treatments clearly, worked comfortably on a phone, or made booking obvious. This is what changed and why.

The business

NUDE is a beauty studio in Gravesend offering hair removal for women and men, laser hair removal, facials and massages. Its customers are local, they are usually deciding between one treatment and another, and a large proportion of them arrive on a phone.

The studio already used platforms it was happy with. Appointments run through Treatwell. Customers also get in touch by WhatsApp and by phone, and reviews sit on Google and Treatwell. None of that needed replacing — it needed connecting properly to a website that made it easy to reach.

What the previous site was getting in the way of

The brief here is descriptive, not a criticism of whoever built the earlier site. These are simply the problems the redesign had to solve.

  • 01

    Dated presentation

The visual treatment no longer matched how the studio presents itself in person, which undercuts trust before a visitor has read anything.

  • 02

    Weak on mobile

The experience on a phone was poor, which matters disproportionately for a local service business where most visits are mobile.

  • 03

    Unclear structure

Information was not organised in the order a customer needs it, so working out what was available took more effort than it should.

  • 04

    Treatments hard to compare

Treatment information was not presented clearly enough for someone deciding between two options.

  • 05

    Booking not obvious

The route from interest to a booked appointment could be considerably shorter and more visible.

  • 06

    Thin SEO foundations

Local search relevance and the underlying technical groundwork both needed rebuilding.

What the rebuild had to do

  • 01Present the NUDE brand properly, on every screen size
  • 02Make the treatments easy to find, read and compare
  • 03Put booking and contact within reach from anywhere on the site
  • 04Rebuild the technical SEO foundations for local search
  • 05Improve accessibility and loading performance
  • 06Leave the studio with a site that is maintainable, in accounts it controls

Approach

01

Structure before surface

The page hierarchy was settled first: a homepage that states what the studio does and where it is, then treatment sections split the way customers think about them — ladies' hair removal, gents' hair removal, laser, and facials and massages — with About, FAQs and Contact supporting rather than competing.

02

Design that carries the brand

The visual direction is built around full-bleed imagery, a restrained serif for headings and generous space, so the site reads as a considered treatment studio rather than a template. The existing NUDE identity was carried through rather than replaced.

03

Booking made unmissable

'Book via Treatwell' sits in the header on every page. On the homepage it is joined by WhatsApp and a call link, and on mobile the call and enquiry controls stay reachable while scrolling. The site hands visitors to Treatwell rather than trying to reproduce a booking engine that already works.

04

Built to be found

Page titles, meta descriptions, canonical URLs, a sitemap, robots directives and structured data were implemented across the site, with genuine local context in the content — the studio really is in Gravesend, so the page can say so without contrivance.

05

Accessible and quick by default

Semantic markup, a logical heading order, labelled form fields, visible focus, alternative text and prepared imagery were part of the build rather than a pass at the end.

06

Privacy handled honestly

The site asks before it measures anything. Analytics stays off unless a visitor accepts, refusing costs them no functionality, and the choice can be changed later from a control that stays on the page.

Connected, not rebuilt

Everything the studio already relied on stayed where it was and was linked in properly.

Treatwell
Appointment booking, linked from the header and throughout the site.
WhatsApp
A direct message route for questions that come before a booking.
Phone
Click-to-call, kept reachable on mobile.
Google
Maps for finding the studio, and reviews for judging it.
Email
A contact route for anything that does not suit a message or a call.

Where it stands

The site was redesigned, developed and deployed with responsive layouts, clearer treatment information, improved technical SEO foundations and direct access to the studio's existing booking and review platforms.

Launch and handover

Domain and DNS configuration were handled as part of the project, and the site was deployed to production and verified there. The studio keeps control of the accounts behind it, and there is no monthly payment to Gdev keeping the site online.

There are no performance scores or traffic figures on this page. Measured results have not been published for this project, and quoting numbers that cannot be checked would make everything else here worth less.
